Title Sequences

For this task I look at different title sequences to give our group an idea of what ours could be like. I used websites such as www.creativereview.co.uk/cr-blog/2009/july/film-titles-list and www.artofthetitles.com I found a few title sequences that gave us really good ideas on what to include in our title sequence.

I particularly liked the Game of Thrones title sequence because the credits are playing through at the same time as the actual shots. I feel that this would be a good idea to use in our title sequence. Also if you watch carefully this whole title sequence basically tells the whole story.

I also liked the title sequence for Se7en. This is because throughout the whole sequence the lighting is quite dark and the images shown aren't very meaningful at first glance but later on they maybe come relevant. This creates a kind of mystery and I think that would look great in our title sequence

This is the house that we will be filming at. We will be filming in the bedroom as our first setting which in the picture is located behind the left window.








This will be the street that we will be filming on because Adam is going to run outside looking for his wife when she disappears.

Roles of Our Group

Dominic = Writer, Director, & Camera Operator. I have written the story and screenplay for our opening and will be giving directions for Dylan, Brandon and Niloo during the filming production process.

Dylan = Film Editor & Lighting Technician. Dylan will be in charge of the lighting we use and where it will be positioned in our opening for the internal and external settings to make sure the actors will be clear to see while the scene still looks darks. Dylan will also be in charge of editing our opening together.

Niloo = Production Designer (Make-up, Costume, Set, and Props). Niloo will be in charge of what the actors wear in our scenes and will add makeup to the actors. Niloo will also be in charge of how the set looks and where the props will be positioned in the scene.

Brandon = Sound Designer & Foley Artist. Brandon will be in charge of the music and sound effects we use. He will decide the style of music to make and how everything should sound. Brandon will work with Dylan during the editing stages.

Title sequences

I looked on www.creativereview.co.uk/cr-blog/2009/july/film-titles list and www.artofthetitles.com for different title sequences to find one that we could create a similar one to. There are a few title sequences I like for specific reasons which create the tone and style of the film before you even start it. The 3 title sequences I like that will fit the style of our film are:

Silent Hill: Revelation (2012):
I like this title sequence because of the images used during, as in this film it shows the audience what you could expect to see in the film and can make them feel scares for the start of the film. Also the black and white images are effective as it connotes a mysterious feeling which I think would be great in our film.

Innerspace (1987)
I liked this title sequence because it wasn't focussed on the images on screen as they were blurred but then come clear. I also liked the fact that the zoomed in crystal like image is actually ice in a whiskey glass as it is slowly revealed towards the end of the sequence. 

Signs (2002):

Employing only text, light, and shadow along with James Newton Howard’s alarming and Hermannesque main theme, the title sequence for M. Night Shyamalan’s Signs relentlessly increases the tension before anything remotely suspenseful has even happened. Though it finishes on a name now synonymous with cinematic twists, Picture Mill’s main titles have a gleefully old fashioned tone that lays the groundwork for Shyamalan’s surprisingly twist-free scary movie opus. 

Close Encounters of the Third Kind 10/15 min film

 

Description: After an encounter with U.F.O.s, a line worker feels undeniably drawn to an isolated area in the wilderness where something spectacular is about to happen.

setting: The first 3 minutes of the film is set in the house that looks abandoned which is a typical sci-fi setting.                                                     
                                                                              

 

this is another location used, it is a car beside train tracks, with a flash of light shining on to the van; creating effect. This signifies that either a helicopter could be passing over head or something un natraul 

I think that this scene is an good idea for our film as it gives out a vibe that there is something not right happening, it keeps audience on edge;  because they want to know what is going to happen next.

Props and costume 

the furniture looks very old and ancient, the table is sett up for a family meal.

the costume looks like casual however quite old, the hair style also looks old fashion ( set in 1990s)
