My Production Name and Logo Idea Research

I couldn't think of a name for our production company so I went to the only place you should go... Name Generators. They come up with the ‘best’ names for a production company such as “Cursed Salad Studio”, “Troubled Grenade Studios”, and “Blissful Trumpet Films”. But of course how could I forget “Clandestine Saxophone Pictures”, “Distressed Postbox Studios”, and the amazing “Nostalgic Oyster Productions”.

Some weren't as bad as the other thousand I saw; some were useable like “Calm Birds Films”, and... That’s about it. So I stopped using name generator and tried to think of a logo and come up with a name from the logo.

I liked the idea of a bird. I researched other companies with a bird logo; I knew the biggest one would be twitter before I researched them. http://www.designfollow.com/design/logo/best-bird-logos-well-designed-and-inspiring/ is the first webpage I found writing about well designed bird logos. It included Twitter’s logo and Atlanta Falcons’ logo. These were the two I liked most on the webpage.

The second webpage I went on included a lot of bird logos. http://goodlogo.com/tags/bird. Many were logos belonging to sports teams such as Liverpool Football Club, Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, and Manchester City Football Club.

I then Googled cartoon birds to look for a certain style I could make our logo. Some simple images that I liked and would be easy for me to make something similar are:

 

For the name of our production company we would have to include the word 'Bird' in their otherwise it would be pointless. I had a few ideas like "Movie Bird Productions" because it tells you exactly what the company is about. Also "Nerd Bird Productions" this rhymes which isn't a bad idea.

Character & Director Profile

Niloo Baziyar - Karen Scott

Karen Scott is 24 year old Nurse who has been in the profession about 3 years now and has recently moved into a new house with her husband Adam Scott. She does like a drink with her friends but mostly prefers to stay at home reading or spend time with Adam.

Brandon Roome - Adam Scott

Adam Scott is a 25 year old English Teacher. He has also been in that profession about 3 years. He is a very kind hearted person and enjoys a few drinks down the pub with his friends. Although on the odd occasion he enjoys staying at home playing online poker.

Dylan Ingman - News Reporter/Alien

Felix Thompson is a 23 year old news reporter. This is his first story working for the BBC news team. He has always dreamed of becoming a news reporter but also he is quite nervous for his first story.

Dominic Bailey  - Director 

Dominic Bailey is the director of this short sequence. Also he features in this film as the person who films the alien and then is attacked and murdered.

make up blog

These are some alien type make up that is done and i think some of 

the make up use is produced really well.

This alien's scalp is a good idea however i think the colour of the it should be different; much more darker colour to represent how gruesome the alien is.

The nails on this picture has given us an idea about what we are going to use to produce our nails.

This is a really good example of what id like to produce for our aliens eyes. This is simply done by normal make and face paint, by mixing up face paint and make up together, the whole alien look is more real.

body make up 

I think this pattern on the body is a quite effective. However when i am going to turn Dylan into an alien i am going to use this effect for his upper body as i think it will look really realistic it will also make  our target audience feel more engaged.

Even though we are not using any make up anymore

Adam and Karen are asleep in bed, we see the alarm clock. We then see a photo frame of Adam and Karen. Everything is quiet and peaceful until we hear a strange noise, the noise gets louder as the room begins to shake but Adam and Karen are still sound asleep, the room keeps shaking. 

The loud bang from the alarm clock shattering suddenly wakes Adam. This wakes Karen up too but Adam tells her to go back to sleep while he turns on the lamp and gets up out of bed. He then tells her that he's just going to check to make sure nothings going on outside and then leaves the room. When Adam gets to the front room he walks over to the window to see what's happening outside.

He sees nothing but darkness until a blinding light suddenly emerges. Adam shades his eyes with his hand until he sees a weirdly shaped silhouette standing outside the window. The silhouette is making this strange clicking sound as it moves near the window.

Adam moves closer to the window, the silhouette notices Adam inside the house and turns its head towards the window and moves closer as well. Adam reaches out to the window, so does the silhouette until it stops and looks past Adam like something else is there. Adam then takes this chance to move right up to the window and as he almost sees what it is he hears the sudden bang.

Adam quickly turns round and shouts Karen, she doesn't reply. Adam runs back to the room to see that Karen is gone, everything has been knocked over, the photo frame has been cracked. Adam turns round and sees that the front door is wide open, he runs towards the front door while the bright light at the window disappears.
Adam runs outside hoping to find Karen there but she's gone, no where to be seen. He shouts out her name a final time and the screen fades to black.

[Extra scene if we have time] News reporter talking about mysterious crop circles on the farming areas near by and the disappearance of people overnight. Then stops reporting to update the audience on the story by showing a video clip that was taken on one of the missing person's phone minutes before their disappearance. The video shows a mysterious animal in the bushes before it quickly lunges out and attacks the man. The report it shocked and unable to speak.

Distributor of our Film

StudioCanal UK (formerly known as Optimum) is a film distributing company working in the United Kingdom and Ireland. The company releases many films, including foreign language films, anime releases such as Studio Ghibli's films, and independent British, Irish, and American films in the United Kingdom and sometimes Ireland. 

For our film we have chose StudioCanalUk to be our distributor. They have done a few Sci-Fi films such as RoboCop which is a film set in 2028 Detroit, Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop, he is critically injured in the line of duty and a multinational conglomerate OmniCorp sees their chance to create a part robot police officer. 








StudioCanalUK have also done films such as The Awakening. Which is a Horror and Thriller type of film. It isn't a Sci-Fi like ours but we have chosen this because of the horror side to it. Our film is mainly Sci-Fi but it has so horror about it which links in with The Awakening

effect of the media

 We have chosen to do our two minute film about alien invasion because the subject of it has always been a mystery, many people are big believers about aliens existing so this creates a massive target audience that ,may find interest in our film.


Alien;s have always been seen as "folk devils" in the media which means they have always been see as the bad guys, it also portrays that they are a threat to earth which can cause fear and panic. This is good because it adds more dramatic effect to he film that we are trying to effect.

This tutorial video on youtube has helped me to see how to create a natural alien with just face paint.






 

this is just a small face paint that could be used to create our alien make up, we have not deided on what colour we want our alien. I think it is best to create an ideal alien that everyone would expect (gmanky green skin)

the tissue paper is used to create the skin of the alien and i think this is a brillant way as it looks more real. The tissue paper is also used for the nose which i think looks brillaint and very real.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 The eyes are just the lenses of sunglass's that create the shap of the eye. this is easy to do and fully captures what an alien eye looks like.
